Abstract

In the modern era of science and technology, research organizations play a vital role in societal advancement. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India, is among the country’s oldest and most prominent scientific institutions, operating 39 national research laboratories. CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP) has over 65 years of dedicated research experience in medicinal and aromatic plant sciences.

On the occasion of CSIR Foundation Day (26 September), CSIR-CIMAP organized a student exposure visit to its Lucknow campus with the goal of enhancing science literacy and engagement among students. A total of 272 students from seven schools and colleges participated in this educational initiative. Data were collected using a structured interview schedule and analyzed statistically.

The study revealed that 87.86% of students had a highly positive attitude toward CSIR-CIMAP, while 6.62% showed moderate and 5.52% low levels of attitude. A positive correlation was observed between students’ age and academic level, and their attitude scores. These findings suggest the effectiveness of exposure visits in promoting interest in scientific research among youth.
